Oz-Fest
October 12-14, 2007
On October 12-14 Dorothy's House / Land of Oz, located at 657
Cedar, Liberal, Kansas will once again welcome the Munchkins
to the official home of Dorothy for the 17th Annual Celebration
of Oz-Fest, in honor of "The Wizard of Oz" and recognizing
the 66th anniversary of the making of the movie.
We continue
to invite the original munchkins from the movie and this year
Margaret Pelligrini, flower pot lady and sleepy head; Clarence
Swenson, soldier; and Karl Slover, 1st Trumpeteer are scheduled
to be in attendance. Also returning is Robert Baum, Great-Grandson
of L. Frank Baum, who does a wonderful presentation of Frank
Baum and family. New to this year's celebration is Caren Marsh-Doll,
author and Judy Garland stand-in. Caren will hold a dance
class where you will learn the official skip down the Yellow
Brick Road and following the class will be a Yellow Brick
Road Skipping contest!
Jack Cooley, Seward County Historical Society chairperson,
and the rest of the society's committee is working hard to
make this the best ever Oz-Fest with new activities and events,
including a downtown parade, a Red Hat Lady Luncheon with
the Munchkins and more. |
